Why we wrote this Guide Book to Angola

When planning our Angolan adventure, we found surprisingly little information, that would be helpful to any individual traveller to the country. And the initial information was full of warnings, not motivation. I had to dig much deeper and I am glad I did so. Angola turned out to be one of the most rewarding places I have visited.

Planning your trip to Angola, you will quickly realise, that the usual sources, like Booking or Agoda for budget accommodation are of little use there and even Lonely Planet has outdated information on their web page.

I had to gain local contacts, that helped me get a real picture of the country and I contacted other travellers, who visited the country. I was thrown into those pleasant time of late nineties, when internet barely existed and travel information was gained by talking to fellow travelers or exploring yourself. Thus, we put our skin in the game and decided to explore Angola and collected all our know-how into this book.

This guidebook will save you at least 50 hours of searching and exploring internet for basic information and will give you a clear idea of:

  1. What are the highlights, which places not to miss, how to allocate your time and connect the dots
  2. How to get around Angola
  3. A few key tips on where to stay and eat in Angola
  4. Warn you on dangers and annoyances
